When a

rural Doctor’s practice

changes hands, it creates an interesting set of new challenges not just for the new doctor, but for the supporting architects as well. In this case, there was an existing building that was very strongly oriented to rural areas; a long-standing doctor ready to pass on his lifework; a young doctor wanting to go to work with fresh impetus (without disconcerting the existing clientele) - and the whole project was seasoned with a low budget, allowing no big jumps or structural interventions.

The many successful years of practice of the predecessor meant one thing in particular: a thorough

Intensive discussions with the client helped identify the most important and influential areas for small design interventions. An

overarching color scheme

in slick white with warm grey tones creates a calming contrast to the existing, dominant wood and terracotta surfaces. Small accents in red were selectively incorporated.

New doors in bright white reflect light into the waiting room, where a

graphic wall band

in grey seamlessly integrates necessary elements like a protective bar to prevent chairs scratching the paintwork, magazine holders, and coat hooks.

No scratches, no disorder. With the simplest of solutions, a chaotic seating area is transformed into a relaxing

waiting room.

The

Corporate Identity

of the practice was developed alongside the interior architecture and design. The comprehensive and uniform image of the practice conveys the high level of professionalism with which the young doctor has now made a name.

Together with the graphic designer Johanna Kurz, a collection of small animal motifs were made and hidden throughout the practice, to delight both parents and children upon

discovery.
