¯I city model

Congress Centrum and former Gauforum, Weimarhallenpark (city park) and urban residential area: At the

fulcrum

of three morphologically very different parts of the city, the Neue Bauhaus Museum integrates itself in a bold and confident manner.

¯I city connection

The city's new flagship building is placed in a

staggered

position towards the sides of the former Gauforum, creating a smooth, pleasant sequence towards the adjoining block of flats.

A reduction of the floor area creates public space on a scale appropriate to the context, and thereby also improves the diverse

network of roads and paths.

¯I green zone connection

The new public space strengthens the

green zone

and superimposes the adjacent park onto the urban space.

¯I visual connection

Along with the reduction of the ground area and the creation of a

visual connection

with the surrounding urban area, the building develops skywards.

¯I view from the park
Sketch: IFUB* I¯
The ceiling above the ground floor pays reference to an under canopy. Recessed glass facades allow a view of the four cores supporting the massive upper part of the building, as well as

views from every direction.

¯I view from Weimarplatz

The view from Weimarplatz over the Gauforum illustrates the

confident form

of the new structure.

Around each of the four

supporting cores,

generous and flexibly-usable spatial landscapes are created on each floor.

After purchasing a ticket, visitors can take a lift to the upper foyer (where there are spectacular views) and then begin the

top to bottom

structured exhibition.
